Mary and Vincent Price’s A Treasury of Great Recipes has grown to be a favorite in my home over the last few years.
I have been fortunate enough to attend a Vincent Price themed dinner in Colorado and spent time with Victoria Price, daughter of Mary and Vincent. This lead to a feature piece for TasteBook which you can read about here.
Random number generator picked #28 – Katrina – congratulations! Please send me your address to icywit@gmail.com.

I want to read about all of those fabulous Vincent Price themed dinner parties, and, of course, imagine myself there.
I loved the insight into the Prices by their daughter. I really enjoyed the article, thanks Jenny!
Interested in the possibity of unique menu combinations.
Loved the insight by Victoria!
So interesting that this cookbook is one of the most sought after titles!
Love that it’s a peek into another side of Vincent Price
I love to pore over old menus, so would especially enjoy seeing those and getting a glimpse into fine dining for the elite of that period.
My favorite part was her part of the stories and the memories she shared.
I love it all but the first article on folding was one I will try! L

I’m intrigued. I did not know he was such a chef. I enjoyed Victoria’s insight!
I found it fascinating that he used to buy art for Sears and that they approached him about a cookbook.
I was intrigued to discover how many layers there were to Vincent Price. Actor, accomplished cook, art curator, devoted father & husband. Great article!
I love that he and his daughter just made souflees for breakfast! And also how he wrote about connecting and slowing down through food.
Having been raised by my grandparents, I was blessed with a love for old movies. I’ve always been a Vincent Price fan. The Song of Bernadette is one of my favorite films even though I am a child of the 80s and most of my contemporaries know him only from Thriller, as you mentioned.
My favorite part of the Tastebook piece is learning the behind the scenes tid bits. Like the artwork for Sears &the attention to details at dinner parties. My husband and I just purchased a home built in 1965 with the very intent of throwing dinner parties!
Shared the post!
I love the look back in time idea of the book. That’s when o was in school
I just loved the vibe that a cookbook can endure the test of time.
Interesting review. I love Vincent Prices movies growing up. They’re still my style of scary. I especially enjoyed the question and answer section with his daughter.
I loved learning that Vincent Price studied art history at Yale. I also think it’s amazing that he procured 20,000 pieces of art (wow! ) for Sears, and that his wife Mary framed them all by herself.
I’ve watched him on tv since I was a little kid and never knew any of these things about him.

I loved the memories shared by his daughter and the fact that he was such a great cook!

This would be a great book to have! I love the Q&A with their daughter.
I shared about the giveaway on Baking and Boys! FB page.
I bought the Ampersand 1965 edition for myself for my 50th birthday. One of my favorites forever.
I am fascinated by cookbooks and recipes from different time periods, plus I think Vincent Price is rather fascinating as well.
My favorite part is the insight into their souls… “explore, savor, celebrate”…. message of joy and legacy of yes. Perhaps his most true to heart role was that of Edward Scissorhand’s father.
I found the whole article very interesting!
I collect interesting cookbooks and would love to add this to my collection. I have books like “The 2nd. Ave. Deli”, “Juniors Restaurant” and many ethnic ones also.
I shared about the giveaway on Facebook.
I thought the look inside the Price’s was so great!

I love that it is a time capsule of the mid-sixties! I can’t wait to see the restaurant menus that it includes. Great review and interview. Thanks!

would love this book ,big fan of Mr.Price
I love that Mary contributed so much to the design of the book. It is a true food history lesson between copper padded covers. Stuck in France…indeed. π
βExplore, savor, celebrate!β
What fun it must have been with parents who thought like that! My mom had a copy of the book, but I don’t remember it ever being opened, much less anyone cooking from it.
Victoria’s insights were great, thanks!
Favorite part is the memories and the stories.
I love the memories…I wouldn’t mind if some of my extra pounds were caused by helping Vincent Price pefect his creme brulee π p.s. I’ve been on the hunt for a Vincent Price cookbook for my collection for ever!

What an interesting piece! Thanks so much–I certainly learned a lot. My favorite thing, however, is the image of Vincent price making popovers for breakfast. Very sweet.
I shared on Twitter. Thanks again!
I enjoyed the interview. I didn’t even know this book existed until I joined the cookbookjunkies facebook group. I was just learning about different books and only had one or two to start my collection. I think it is interesting to know that a book I wasn’t aware of is so sought after by others.
Thank you for the giveaway. This would be a great book for any collection.
Yay, I’m so excited that I won this book! Thanks, RG! π
