I love the simplicity of the Taste of Home cookbooks!
Woo hoo
Somewhere still in boxes in the garage, I think I have many old issues of Taste of Home. Unless they are the boxes we got rid of (lots of magazines) during the move. Which means I must buy more LOL
I love all kinds of cookbooks and my family appreciates my cooking.
Too hot to cook today!
Looks really good
Cookbooks rock!
I’m back with another entry
Happy Wednesday!
I need more shelves.
Entry
I received their magazine for several years.
Simple and Delicious sounds like a great approach to cooking–I’m all for simple, and I ain’t gonna argue with delicious, either.
This sounds like a cookbook that my Dad would enjoy the recipes from – he’s a simple meat and potatoes man.
August’s full moon is the Sturgeon Moon.

Watching a Hallmark movie on my DVR right now. Lots of great looking food is on the screen.
Sweet
I often check out the Taste of Home website when I’m looking up recipes online. They’re got a huge number of recipes, and it’s a good place to get ideas.
I want to see those make ahead recipes!
I still have a few of their magazines with some go-to recipes in them.
Tast of Home, take me home, to the place I belong…
This is the sort of book I turn to when I have an ingredient and am looking for a way to use it. With that many recipes, there’s bound to be at least a few recipes using just about anything!
Looking forward to going to bed soon!
On a non-food related topic, let me update you on my Monarch butterfly project. I’ve released over 60 butterflies so far, with another 7 ready to go tomorrow. There are still a few dozen chrysalises to go, with only one caterpillar left, and that one will become a chrysalis by this time tomorrow. At this time of year, the butterflies I release will migrate from here (Maine) to Mexico, where they will overwinter, then breed in the spring, probably in Texas. Amazing!
That’s amazing that they can travel that far! I didn’t realize they had that stamina to get from Maine to Mexico. How long does it normally take them to travel that distance?
It is amazing, Angie. I find them as fascinating as they are beautiful. As far as how long it takes them to migrate, I don’t think anyone knows for sure. I read of one tagged butterfly that few 265 miles in one day, which seems pretty far. Even so, at that rate, it would take many weeks to get from Maine to Mexico. (I released six more today!)
Wow, that does seem really far! What a great thing you’re doing with these butterflies.
Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.
simple and delicious- sounds like what we all want especially on work nights…
Home of Taste
Woo hoo!
Thank you for running these giveaways for all of us cooks and cookbook junkies!
I have a lot of guilt about my cookbook collection. I love them, but I don’t use all of them, and they take up so much space, yet I always seem to think that the one I don’t have is the one I really need. What’s up with that?
I love looking through the Taste of Home Magazines – they always have some of the best recipes
I’m channeling Lucy now…and it’s tasty too, tastes just like candy.
My favorite cookbooks usually fall into one of two categories. Either they’re general, all-purpose cookbooks like this one from Taste of Home, or they’re devoted to a single ingredient, method, or technique. Both kinds are useful in their own way.
The picture on the cover of this book looks really good. I’m always looking for new ideas for chicken, which we have quite frequently.
Hey, where is everybody? I know it’s a holiday weekend here in the U.S., but there’s always time to comment to win a fun cookbook. 🙂
I need some new and easy ideas for dinner.
Am in recovery mode from a stomach flu that took me out for the last week. I have never been more sick in my life! But I’m glad to be back here again.
I’ve been watching the U.S. Open tennis tournament all week long, and my favorite player, Rafa Nadal, lost earlier this evening in a very close match. I’ll miss seeing him play next week, but there’s still lots of great players left to root for. I’ve got my own private list of heros and villains, and I have a good time watching.
Loving the rain that’s in the forecast for this week
Hello! This looks like a neat cookbook
Today at Goodwill, I picked up a copy of another Taste of Home book, the Market Fresh Cookbook. It’s organized by type of produce, which will make it easy to find a recipe for a specific ingredient, like apples or carrots. There’s one recipe for an Amish Onion Cake, which has really piqued my interest.
When I was out shopping and running errands yesterday, I was saddened by all the Halloween and autumn decor, candy, and flowers in the stores. I used to love autumn, but as I get older, it just reminds me of the snow and cold and short days of winter.
Today we released our last Monarch butterfly for this year. Kinda sad that it’s over. Hope they have a good winter in Mexico!
It’s Sunday 9/11/16
Today is such a sad day, a day of remembrance and reflection. Nine-eleven.
Yesterday was 9/11/16, I remember being at work prepping the day’s salads when the first plane hit the Towers. They tried to keep us at work for our “safety”. I walked many miles that day picking up kids from three different schools but I went back once the kids were home and safe and spent the next three days making coffee, sandwiches, salads that we donated and brought as close to the site as was possible to feed those selfless souls who worked tirelessly.
While standing in line at the grocery store today, I picked up a magazine called “Baking.” The first thing I noticed was that it was from Taste of Home, so I took a closer look. That’s when I saw the price: $12.99! For a magazine? Yikes! (Yes, I do live under a rock. LOL)
It’s Tuesday
Robin, I just saw your post about your experience on Nine-Eleven and the days afterward. It was horrible for those of us who live several states away, but I can only imagine the horror for those of you who were right there. Thank you for sharing your story and for your support of the workers at the site.
