Is it from a cookbook, a family recipe passed down to you, etc…
“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”
― Virginia Woolf, A Room of One's Own
For the pure enjoyment of making it, I love making French Silk Pie because it is just so satisfying beating the eggs in with the butter and sugar and watching it puff up and lighten in color! I also like to whip heavy cream into butter for similar reasons.
I love to make my homemade Mac and Cheese because my whole family loves it. They make me feel like I am the best cook in the world because no one can make it like I do. They ask for it on birthdays and holidays and just about any cay they can have it.
I have two. One is the Beef Burgundy recipe that my mom gave me that won my husband’s heart. I made it the first time I cooked for him, and I watched my status change on his face after his first bite. It’s a simple dish, but 40 years later, it still near & dear to our hearts.
The other is Italian Chicken with Peppers, which takes WAY more time than any other dish I make, but is so darn delicious, I make it at least every other month.
BOTH of these have to be served with my Dad’s Wine & Garlic Bread, which I’ve selected as the one thing I’d want to eat if I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life.
